Norway Spruce
Kendall Hill Nursery offers the Norway Spruce tree, also known as Picea Abies. The Norway Spruce can grow fast when young, but moderates over time. The growth rate offers relatively rapid establishment in the landscape. It is more urban-tolerant than other spruces, especially to drought, poor, clay, dry, or acidic soils, and pollution. It needs full sun, but can adapt to various soil pH conditions. It is also moderately tolerant of winter salt spray, and has exceptional cold-hardiness. It is a fast growing Spruce tree with strong yet graceful branches covered with dark green needles. It matures to 60’ tall with a 25’ spread. The tree can be successfully grown in Zones 3-7.
