Red Sunset Maple
Kendall Hill Nursery grows and offers Red Sunset Maple trees, or Acer Rubrum ‘Franksred’. The Red Sunset Maple is used by landscape architects because of its size, sturdiness, and natural beauty. It provides year round visual interest as the leaves and flowers change all seasons. During the summer and spring seasons the leaves are shiny green on top and pale green on the bottom. The tree has small red flowers that appear during mid-spring. The flowers change into red fruit during the summer. The tree moves through an interesting foliage change in the fall leaving red-hued branches for a beautiful winter appearance. It is a large shade tree that matures between 40’ to 60’s with a 35’ to 40’ spread. Although this tree enjoys direct sun, it is quite adaptable and will also grow in low, moderate, and full-shade environments. This tree can flourish in a variety of soil conditions and can comfortably be grown from zones 4 to 8.
