Morton Accolade

Kendall Hill Nursery grows and offers the Morton Accolade, Ulmus 'Morton', also commonly known as an Accolade Elm, Smoothleaf Elm or the Narrowleafed Elm. The Morton Accolade is known for its resemblance to the traditional American Elm. However, it is a hardy tree resistant to Dutch Elm disease, cold, and tolerant to drought. The tree does not grow as large as the American Elm and matures at nearly 60' with a spread of 35'. It grows vigorously when young, gaining as much as three feet per year but slows to half that as it matures. The Morton Accolade is also resistant to Elm Leaf beetles, Leaf Miner, Elm Yellows disease and verticillium wilt. It will grow well in most soils unless it has excessive moisture. Morton Accolades can be successfully grown in Zones 4 to 5.
