Sweetgum
Kendall Hill Nursery grows and offers American Sweetgum trees or Liquidambar Styraciflua. The Sweetgum tree has magnificent foliage that offer a range of colors throughout the seasons. In the summer and spring the star-shaped leaves are a deep, glossy green. During the fall they turn yellow and then transform into a purple-red. The tree is a pyramidal shape that becomes more rounded as it ages. The American Sweetgum does not tolerate polluted sites very well. At full maturity, the American Sweetgum reaches a height of 60’ to 70’ with a 40 to 45’ spread. It can be successfully grown in Zones 5-9.
